As we approach the end of 2023, B P Collins’ teams are delighted to celebrate the award wins they have achieved over the past 12 months, in addition to achieving high rankings in legal directories, Chambers UK, Chambers High Net Worth Guide and The Legal 500, plus being recognised as one of The Times’ ‘Best Law Firms’ in England and Wales.
Excellence in client service
We were delighted to win the top award for ‘Excellence in Customer Service” at the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce Business Awards and to also win the ‘Service Excellence Award’ at the SME MK and Buckinghamshire Business Awards. These important events not only helped to celebrate the success of the region’s thriving corporate sector; but the excellence in customer service categories also recognise the importance of businesses being able to achieve the highest standards of client care.
Corporate Law Firm of the Year
In September, our corporate team scooped Corporate Law Firm of the Year at the Insider Media Awards in Reading. The judges said, “congratulations to B P Collins, who, in a very strong category, secured the win for its compelling growth story and impressive cross-section of clients.”
Corporate Deal of the Year
Following on from this highly prestigious award, B P Collins was the lead sale side legal adviser to a corporate deal which won two awards at The Business Magazine’s Thames Valley Deals Awards in Reading.
B P Collins’ corporate and commercial team, led by partner Alex Zachary, and its specialist property and employment practices advised Summerleaze Limited on its sale of Andigestion Limited to Severn Trent Green Power Limited. The significant deal, where the acquisition is now complete, won both Corporate to Corporate Deal of the Year and Mid-Range Deal of the Year.
Alex Zachary says, “It was a special deal because of its size and complexity, but also because it is in a sector in which B P Collins has longstanding experience – waste, recycling and renewables – while helping support the Government’s commitment towards net zero emissions. We were able to draw from the experience of our top-ranked (in Chambers and Legal 500 legal directories) Environment group in supporting Summerleaze, who we have represented for over 30 years.”
Property Law Firm of the Year
B P Collins’ property team won Property Law Firm of the Year at The Business Magazine’s Thames Valley Property Awards at Ascot Racecourse.
Alison Taylor, property partner and practice group leader said, “This award is a testament to the strong relationships we have cultivated with clients and the high quality, friendly and proactive service we provide. This year we are proud to have advised high-profile clients, including in TV and film production, who are changing the landscape of the Thames Valley economy and attracting millions of pounds worth of investment to the region. We look forward to continuing our work with them in the future.”
Individuals recognised
We were also delighted when corporate and commercial solicitor, Holly McNeil, won the ‘Junior Lawyer of the Year’ award at the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire (BB&O) Law Society’s Legal Excellence Awards, while Matthew Brandis, dispute resolution partner and practice group leader, was a finalist in its ‘Lawyer of the Year’ category. The annual event celebrates and recognises the achievements of those in the legal profession across the three counties.
Congratulations also to property disputes associate, Manjot Dhillon who was shortlisted for Young Lawyer of the Year at Insider Media’s South East Young Professionals Awards.
Simon Deans, senior partner adds:
“These acknowledgements mean a lot to our teams, as solving our clients’ problems and building strong relationships are at the crux of everything we do.
“The awards help to recognise the all-nighters we have pulled, so our corporate clients can get a deal across the line or helping another client to achieve the best possible outcome in a dispute.
“It also recognises the state-of-the-art technology we’ve invested in to meet clients’ expectations, which are moving away from what a ‘traditional’ law firm offers. We can advise clients from anywhere that is most convenient to them. Well done to all and what an incredible way to start 2024.”
