The Government has published statutory rates of pay for maternity, paternity and shared parental pay – as well as adoption pay and sick pay from April 2018.
Currently, the weekly rate of statutory maternity pay stands at ÂŁ140.98, or 90% of an employee's average weekly earnings if this figure is less than the statutory rate.
As of April 2018, the rate of statutory maternity pay will rise to ÂŁ145.18. The increase normally occurs on the first Sunday in April – this year, it falls on the first of the month.
The rates of statutory paternity pay and statutory shared parental pay will also go up from ÂŁ140.98 to ÂŁ145.18 on April 1.
The rate of statutory sick pay is also increasing from ÂŁ89.35 to ÂŁ92.05. This increase is expected to occur on 6 April 2018.
The rate of statutory adoption pay will similarly increase from to ÂŁ145.18. This means it is payable at 90% of the employee's average weekly earnings for the first six weeks, with the remainder of the adoption pay period at the rate of ÂŁ145.18.
