Matthew Brandis, partner and practice group leader in dispute resolution was instructed to advise a corporate client in relation to a breach of contract claim against another company. Commenting on the matter, he said:
“Our client was owed a substantial amount of money by another company who steadfastly refused to pay – our client had tried over many months to obtain payment, but to no avail.
“When we became involved the other company came up with a range of excuses and defences in the hope that this would dissuade our client from issuing proceedings. However, on the basis of the advice we provided our client it was confident of a successful outcome and proceedings were therefore commenced. The other party defended the proceedings but then swiftly resolved the matter to our client’s full satisfaction”.
