B P Collins is pleased to announce it has donated to para dressage star Mari Durward – Akhurst. As a key sponsor of Bucks SportsAid, which supports talented young athletes who might otherwise miss out on crucial training and competition opportunities, this donation is part of B P Collins’ ongoing commitment to helping young sportspeople reach their full potential.

Mari is a remarkable para equestrian, known for her achievements as a Paralympic Bronze Medallist and European Silver Medallist. Striving for selection for the Summer 2028 Paralympics in Los Angeles, Mari is determined to secure a gold medal on the world stage.

Mari was born with cerebral palsy and a rare neurological condition that causes symptoms including ataxia and dystonia, affecting all four of her limbs. As a result, Mari experiences challenges with coordination, balance, and muscle tone, and is a full-time wheelchair user. However, her incredible drive and resilience have made her a champion both on and off the horse, and she continues to push boundaries in para dressage.

Mari Durward – Akhurst says:

I’m incredibly grateful to B P Collins for its generous support. It’s not easy to compete at the highest level when living with cerebral palsy, but with the right support, anything is possible. This donation will go a long way in helping me continue my journey toward the LA 2028 Paralympics.

Simon Deans, B P Collins senior partner and Bucks SportsAid trustee adds:

“At B P Collins, we’re committed to supporting individuals who exemplify determination and resilience. Mari’s story is an inspiration to us all, and we are proud to play a part in her journey to the 2028 Summer Paralympics. We hope that our contribution will help alleviate some of the financial pressures that come with training at this elite level, allowing Mari to focus on what she does best—competing and achieving greatness.”

Mari’s dedication to her sport, despite the physical challenges she faces, makes her a role model for many. With the help of supporters like B P Collins, Mari is determined to continue her path to gold and inspire future generations in para dressage.
