Chambers UK one of the UK’s leading legal directories, has announced its results for 2025 with B P Collins LLP retaining strong rankings for its practices and lawyers, with more individuals and a new practice being recognised this year.
Band 1 practice rankings
B P Collins is delighted to learn its construction team has received a ‘Band 1’ ranking for the first time, with one client explaining that, “B P Collins has a breadth and depth of skill. The team is very responsive,” while another adds, “B P Collins delivers very good legal advice without losing sight of its clients’ commercial objectives.”
Its corporate and environment teams receive ‘Band 1’ rankings again, while family, employment, dispute resolution, crime and real estate practices all retain their high rankings.
New individuals ranked
Property partner, Alison Taylor moves to become a Band 1 lawyer in environment for the first time after being described as having, “…a vast breadth of knowledge,” in this field.
Steven Smith, construction and dispute resolution partner is ranked for the first time as he is, “…good on procedure, litigating, correspondence and maintaining momentum.”
Simon Carroll, dispute resolution partner is also ranked with Chambers UK reporting that, “…he does high-quality work, he gets good results…and is very methodical and calm in his approach.”
Laura Mortimer, family partner makes the rankings for the first time with one client saying she, “…has the ability to handle sensitivity in cases and to navigate the emotion that comes with that.”
Kathryn Fielder, employment partner is also ranked for the first time due in part to her, “…terrific knowledge of the latest developments in employment law and may be relied upon for outstanding client service.”
Rajiv Malhotra, dispute resolution partner, is recognised as ‘Up and coming’ as one client confirms he, “…is very good at delivering and listening to clients.”
Described as, “very intelligent”, Elliott Brookes, senior associate and property disputes practice group leader, becomes an ‘Associate to Watch’ in both environment and real estate litigation with a client saying he, “…has always given me excellent legal advice, and most importantly, he gets results.”
Band 1 rankings for individuals
Many lawyers from across the firm retain the highest status awarded by Chambers. Craig Williams in litigation and environment, Jo Davis in employment, David Smellie in corporate and commercial, Alex Zachary and Jonothan Moss in environment are all regarded as ‘Band 1’ lawyers.

Other lawyers who continue to maintain their rankings in the top tiers are Matthew Brandis, head of dispute resolution and Alex Zachary, head of corporate and commercial. Alison Taylor, property partner, Maria Mowberry, property partner, and Emily Halley, property associate retain their real estate rankings, as does corporate and commercial partner, Simon Deans.
