An experienced commercial litigator, Steven specialises in all types of commercial litigation and dispute resolution with a particular focus on construction disputes and contractual disputes.
Steven provides clear, straightforward and commercially focused advice to identify cost effective solutions to deliver his clients’ objectives.
Experience
Steven has broad experience in commercial, construction, regulatory and financial/banking disputes, having previously worked at a large international law firm and in-house at a leading City regulator, where he was part of a team conducting high profile cross-agency investigations. He now acts for a range of clients from individuals and owner-run businesses to large national and international companies. Steven acts for claimants and defendants in all stages of litigation in the High Court (including the specialist divisions) and County Court. He has considerable experience in other forms of dispute resolution, including mediation, negotiation, adjudication and arbitration.
Steven advises on the full range of construction-related disputes, including claims arising out of defective works (including for insurer clients), interim and final payments and claims for variations, extensions of time and loss and expense. On the commercial disputes side, he advises and acts for clients in all types of contract disputes with a particular focus on disputes arising out of the sale of goods and supply of services, share purchase agreements, corporate disputes and claims under indemnities and guarantees.
Steven’s recent experience includes:
- Acting for the claimants in an international arbitration (ICC Rules) who were awarded a six-figure retention payment wrongly withheld by the buyer under a share purchase agreement, together with 100% of their costs and the dismissal of a multi-million pound counterclaim.
- Acting for the contractor under a 2016 JCT Design & Build contract in respect of a multi-million pound development site in central London in claims for non-payment of interim payments, extensions of time and loss and expense.

Steven read Politics at the University of Bristol. He went on to study Law at the College of Law, London, where he obtained a First Class law degree.
He regularly contributes articles for B P Collins’ knowledge hub and delivers bespoke training sessions to clients with an emphasis on legal updates and developments in the construction industry.
Outside the office
In his spare time, Steven enjoys shooting, skiing and is a keen musician.
