Wills, trusts and probate

Our wills, trusts and probate solicitors can help you to successfully plan for your future, protect your family and ensure your estate is distributed exactly as you intended. Whether you need a will written or amended, a trust arranged to ensure the right people manage your assets or a probate solicitor to help manage the process of dealing with someone’s estate, our team are here to help.

Drawing up a will

In this world nothing is certain, so planning ahead with the help of your solicitor can be a valuable investment.

It is critical to take expert advice to ensure your wealth is properly managed and drawing up a will is essential if you want to ensure that your assets will be dealt with the way you want.

Here are 10 reasons why you should write your will.

Tax planning

At the same time, appropriate tax planning may significantly reduce your inheritance tax liability and deliver maximum value to your beneficiaries.

Probate

Dealing with someone’s estate once they pass away can be a difficult process. Our probate solicitors can help to share the burden of administering an estate by applying for probate,  reviewing all relevant documents, investigating the value of any assets, distributing the estate and more.

Trusts

Trusts can also be extremely useful – they offer valuable flexibility and wealth protection, as well as providing more options than leaving a simple legacy gift.

Our private client team takes time to understand your needs and will translate your wishes into clear and concise legal documents that meet your objectives, now and in the future.

Intestacy

Working alongside our wills and trust team, our probate solicitors deal promptly and sensitively with probate including cases of intestacy and provide effective advice if an estate is contested.

Our legal team has an impressive client base and is highly regarded in the legal directories. The private client team includes members of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the Law Society’s Probate Section and Solicitors for the Elderly. As such, our solicitors are exceptionally well qualified to safeguard your family wealth, estate and property.

Our experienced solicitors will guide you through any issues and provide you and your family with complete peace of mind, whatever the future may hold.

Long-term care planning

Helping you protect your family wealth for the future.

No one wishes to imagine a future where we might need residential care, but it is an increasing reality as we all live longer, and the demand for care is increasing.

Even though it is vital that each of us has a plan in place for the future, many people still fail to consider how the need for residential care will impact our savings, our investments and even our home. Average care home costs range from £27,000 to £39,000 a year, increasing up to £60,000 a year if nursing care is required.

While some funding may, in limited circumstances, be provided by the NHS, in most cases you will be financially assessed to establish if you are able to pay for the cost of your own care. Only once your assets have fallen to below £23,250 will the local authority start to contribute to your care fees.

At B P Collins LLP we can undertake a review of your circumstances and advise you on the best way to structure your assets to mitigate some of the cost of long term care. We can prepare Lasting Powers of Attorney, enabling you to appoint someone you trust to manage your affairs, and we can ensure that you receive any additional benefits you are entitled to.

We can help you to protect your family wealth, assets and home and ensure that you can still pass them on to future generations.

Accreditation

The wills, trusts and probate solicitors at B P Collins LLP are members of the Law Society’s Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme (WIQS).

The scheme provides a best practice quality mark for wills and estate administration advice that consumers can trust and outlines required practices in areas such as will drafting, probate and estate administration.
